NextPath Career Partners is currently seeking a COO/Director of Operations to join our client’s team in Tampa, FL. This is a hybriddirect hire position.

SALARY: $120-150K (depending on experience)


  • 10+ years of overall work experience, with 5+ years of financial and operations management experience.
  • Non-profit finance and operational experience is a plus.
  • Project management of government grant reporting is a plus.
  • Experience leading and managing cross functional teams to ensure the highest levels of collaboration and accountability.
  • Highly detail orientation with proven track record of scaling the operations of a business.
  • Strong operational, planning, and get-it-done capabilities, with a startup mentality.
  • Passion for startup and entrepreneurial community.
  • Excellent communications skills, including during tough negotiations and considering staff adjustment to adhere to new policies and procedures.
  • Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and dedication to the mission.
  • Experience working with a Board of Directors.
  • Proven ability to support personal growth for team members and implement timely performance improvement plans, as necessary.
  • Ability to thrive as part of a team with diverse experience, expertise, skills, and objectives.
  • Belief in the power of collaboration, especially with many of Wave’s partners in the local
  • community – together we can do greater things.
  • Empathy for the entrepreneurs and the challenges they face because of the high-risk nature of building a startup.
  • Bachelor’s degree; MBA/CPA or equivalent experience preferred.


  • Collaborate with the CEO on the execution of the Wave’s mission, toward building value and furthering the Wave as a nationally recognized organization.
  • Assist the CEO and Board of Directors with strategic planning and organizational goal setting.
  • Project manage the annual budget process with support from the CEO and senior leadership.
  • Design and implement business operations to enhance company growth based on the strategic plan, establish policies that promote company culture and vision, and oversee the operations of the organization and the work of the team.
  • Develop and implement operating policies to support overall company objectives.
  • Manage external finance partner to ensure bookkeeping, accounting, and reporting is provided in a timely manner.  Oversee analysis of monthly financials, including variance reporting and resolution.  Manage expenses and cost structure according to strategic and top line objectives, as well as cash constraints.
  • Lead the organization’s performance management process, including preparation and reporting of KPIs, along with supporting analysis.
  • Lead efforts to ensure federal grant and other sponsor fulfillment requirements are met.
  • Act as primary point of contact for audits and tax return preparations and ensure an on-time, under budget audit process.
  • Oversee all administrative and finance functions to ensure smooth business operations.
  • Create and develop an effective organization and team of leaders to meet goals.  Provide strong overall leadership.
