NextPath Career Partners is currently seeking a HR Generalist – Employee Relations and Leave Management to join our client’s team in Orlando, FL. This is an onsite, direct hire position.

SALARY: $65-$85K (depending on experience)

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or equivalent experience.
  • MUST HAVE: Experience working with multi-state employees. (Experience with California employees required)
  • Proven experience in leave management or a related HR function, with a strong understanding of federal and state leave laws, including FMLA, ADA, and state-specific leave laws.
  • 3-5+ years proficiency in HRIS and payroll software systems.
  • Experience in the construction industry is a PLUS
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Sound judgment and decision-making abilities, with the capacity to assess complex situations and recommend appropriate courses of action.
  • Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with tact and diplomacy.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Address employee grievances, complaints, and conflicts in a timely and confidential manner.
  • Investigate employee relations issues, including allegations of harassment, discrimination, or policy violations, and take appropriate corrective action.
  • Mediate disputes between employees or between employees and management to promote resolution and maintain positive working relationships.
  • Interpret and apply HR policies, procedures, and employment laws to ensure consistency and fairness in employee relations decisions.
  • Collaborate with management to develop and implement policies and procedures related to employee conduct, performance management, and disciplinary actions.
  • Provide guidance and training to managers and supervisors on effective employee relations practices and compliance with HR policies and regulations.
  • Develop and implement initiatives to enhance employee engagement, morale, and retention.
  • Conduct exit interviews and analyze turnover data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement in employee relations practices.
  • Collaborate with management to address issues impacting employee satisfaction and retention, such as workload, career development, and work-life balance.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, including EEO, ADA, FMLA, and FLSA.
  • Keep abreast of changes in employment law and proactively advise management on potential risks and compliance requirements.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives to promote a diverse and inclusive workplace.
  • Manage the entire leave process, from initial request to return to work, ensuring timely and accurate administration of all types of leave.
  • Review and process leave requests, including medical certifications and documentation, in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain leave policies and procedures that comply with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as company standards.
  • Stay informed about changes in leave laws and regulations, such as FMLA, ADA, and state-specific leave laws, and update policies accordingly.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employees requesting leave, providing information, guidance, and support throughout the leave process.
  • Educate employees on their rights and responsibilities related to leave entitlements, including eligibility criteria, notification requirements, and documentation procedures
  • Communicate leave policies, procedures, and requirements to employees, managers, and HR staff through various channels, including employee handbooks, training sessions, and one-on-one consultations.
  • Conduct training sessions for managers and supervisors on their roles and responsibilities in managing employee leave and ensuring compliance with leave policies.
  • Coordinate leave management efforts with other HR functions, such as benefits administration, payroll, and employee relations, to ensure seamless integration of leave-related processes.
